Tuesday 12th January

Good morning everyone :-)

Well done for getting through your first day of remote learning. We are learning as we go, but as with anything, it should get easier as we use it more! Thank you for your patience.

I hope you're beginning to get to grips with your 4 times table. At this stage, you should know the facts for 0x, 1X, 2X, 5X, 10X, 3X and now the 4X and the associated division facts. If you find this more challenging, you can draw the groups to find the facts.

I'm sure you are also learning your spellings for this week. Make sure you go on to spelling shed (I have set the words on there for you too) to help consolidate. We're currently in second place as a class on there, so well done!

I've seen some amazing front covers at school. I hope you feel proud of yours at home too. I loved your reactions when you found out you were learning about the Ancient Egyptians this half term! Hopefully we'll all really enjoy it, and I thought it was a good topic to find out lots independently too, if you're really interested in it. I saw some good books at home that some of you had, so they'll really help!

Today, I'll see as many of you as possible at 8.45 for our brief hello. Around this time, I'd like you to get started with arithmetic, before we meet again at 9.15. We'll be learning about dividing by 4 in our Maths lesson.

For English, we'll be using the book 'The Egyptian Cinderella' by Shirley Climo. We'll meet at 11am to do a English starter together. Then please watch the video reading here: A Reading of The Egyptian Princess - Click here  Apologies that it is read as a bedtime story. My copy has gone walkabouts, so I am using a version that I found online.

Then, complete the Egyptian Cinderella Worksheet.

Once you've done that, if you'd like, you could draw Rhodopis. As a further extension, you could think of any words you could use to describe her. Use a dictionary or a thesaurus to support, if you'd like.

In the afternoon, we'll meet at 1.30pm. We'll be discovering where Egypt is on a map before I ask you to complete some work. If you are printing the worksheet, choose which one is best for you from the first 3 pages. You only need to print 1 page OR you can copy from the screen straight into your book, to save on printing. The answers are at the end of the attachment.

Please choose your best piece of work today to try and upload to your work folder on One Drive, if you can. Don't worry if you can't - I can try and support you with this a little further on!

Have a wonderful day and I look forward to seeing you.
