Thursday 26th March

Hi Everyone

I hope you are all well and have had an enjoyable first week of learning from home. Thank you to those of you who have managed to join the class blog on Purple Mash – its been so lovely hearing from the children. Remember to check the 2Do icon as I will be setting little daily tasks for the children to complete if they are able to.

Please keep referring to the school website for updates via our class page Year groups / Reception / Learning from home (my website editing skills are developing daily with a little help from my Holy Family colleagues!). I hope you have found the two-week overview I sent useful, please continue to sing, play, paint, draw, write and read read read! I have put a link to some fabulous EYFS resources online under the useful websites tab and I’ve put copies of the resources sent home under the resources tab.

I have heard that you have been doing a fabulous job at home and that the children are all happy and having lots of fun. Its brilliant that you are sharing your learning on the YR WhatsApp group. I would really love to see some of this learning and have been thinking about how we could save this work for the children. In school, we use an online Learning Journey provided by Tapestry which allows us to electronically record and track your child’s learning during their time in Reception Class. We take photographs, videos and make written observations of the activities your child does, and these observations are given to you at the end of the year.

I would like to open up the children’s tapestry accounts for you at home. This way, you will be able to record your child’s activities at home and add your own photos and comments to the journal. This could be a photo of a picture that was drawn, a little video of your child singing a number song, riding their bike, baking a cake, reading a book…the list is endless, all activities will be welcomed however big or small. When the children are back at school, we can share their learning journeys together on our I pad (they absolutely love doing this with me).

Please rest assured that the information about your child and their learning is secure and can only be viewed by members of staff and yourselves as parents, you will only have access to your child’s work.  Any personal details about your child are confidential and will not be disclosed.

To set you up I will need you to read and sign (electronically is fine) the attached forms and return them to me asap at jevans@holy-family.surrey.sch.uk. Please note, I will be unable to share any group observations of your child at school until I have received permission from every parent about sharing your child’s image.

Once I have your paperwork, you will receive a link to create your login details.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Take care everyone.

Best wishes
