Thursday 14th January

Good morning Year 3!

Thursday already. You are doing so well! As a teacher, I couldn't be prouder! I hope you are managing to find some time to get some fresh air amongst all your hard work! If you can upload any of your learning to your one drive work folder, please experiment and give it a go. I can then see it there and give you some feedback for all your amazing efforts.

Today, for your early morning work, I would like you to have a go at the times tables snakes and ladders, as attached below. Choose either the 3x table or the 4x table (or both!). If you can't play with anyone, play by yourself. You can still move along the grid. In how many throws does it take you to get to the finish? If you can't print, you can still have a go at answering them from the screen.

For Maths, I will see you on Teams at 9.15 to start learning about the 8X Tables. Today, we will be multiplying by 8. I attach an extension challenge as well.

For English, there is a reading comprehension, dictionary skills and grammar activity (with answers further down for the parents) using a diary entry from a young Egyptian boy as a focus. No need to print. You can answer the questions either orally or in your book; just remember to number them in the margin. Do as much as you can in the 40 or so minutes after our Teams call. I will be going through some of the terminology you will come across in our teams meeting. We will return to The Egyptian Cinderella next week, when we will plan and write our own traditional tales with an Egyptian twist.

I will see you next week :-)

Mrs Clark is taking over from me on a Thursday afternoon, whilst we are learning from home, and she will see you at the 1.30pm Teams meeting. Here is the message from Mrs Clark.

Hi Year 3,

I hope you are all working hard at home and finding the time for some exercise, we are missing you lots here at school.

As school closes after lunch on a Friday, your Art lesson with me will be on a Thursday afternoon.  I will then see you again on a Friday morning for a brief check in when I will explain your work for the day.  We are exploring sketching in our lessons this term, where you will begin to develop the skills you need to add tone and shading to your drawings.  You will find an Art Lesson Powerpoint and any resources you need in the files below.  Have fun creating during your Art lessons at home and please take pictures and send these to me.
