School Uniform

At Holy Family School we pay strict regard to the wearing of uniform. A uniform fosters a pride in the school and a sense of belonging to a special community. This in turn helps to develop a greater awareness of personal appearance and self respect, which is reflected in sound attitudes, both social and academic.

All children attending the school must wear the correct uniform and we expect parents' full support in enforcing our uniform rules to maintain the highest standards of appearance.

Please note that long hair  must always be tied back off the shoulders when in school and that extreme hairstyles or colouring should be avoided. The meaning of 'extreme' is open to interpretation; parents' support of the school's judgement on this is greatly appreciated.

Jewellery, other than a small watch, must not be worn in school. Children are permitted to wear a pair of small stud ear-rings, however it is a health & safety directive from Surrey that the wearing of jewellery, ear-rings & ear-studs should not be permitted during PE lessons and sporting activities. The Governors of the school endorse this advice and children will be asked to remove ear-rings or studs before PE should they arrive in school wearing them. New piercings should only be made in the first week of the summer holidays so that ears have sufficient time to heal over the long break.

Physical Education is a key part of the school curriculum. Children must wear full, clean PE kit and suitable footwear for all PE lessons.

Every item belonging to your child should be clearly labelled. In our experience sewn-on labels are most effective for clothing, and vinyl labels or sharpies are useful for water bottles or lunchboxes. Named lost property will be returned to the owner, by a member of staff, as soon as possible.

all un-named and unclaimed property that is left around the school will be displayed in the school playground at the end of each half term.

The PTFA second hand uniform sales are regularly held, offering the opportunity to buy second hand items of uniform. these include jumpers, cardigans, pinafore dresses, skirts, polo shirts, PE fleeces, PE t-shirts, trousers, white shirts and shorts. we would encourage all parents to investigate this excellent source of uniform before purchasing brand new items.

Optional summer dresses may be worn from the beginning of the summer term until October half term.
