Monday 11th Jan

Monday 11th January

Good morning Year 6!

I hope that your first few days of home learning went well, that you have organised your pack and you are ready for a new week!  Please make sure you keep everything to hand because we will be using the contents this week, along with lots of other resources which have been sent to you and can also be found on the class one drive.

I will give a summary of the day's lessons on this page, so it would be great if you could start your day by checking here, before joining us on Teams. This would give you a chance to get  all your equipment and books to hand.  I am looking forward to seeing lots of your work I will explain to you during the live sessions how you can send your work to me.

Today on the menu we have:

Early Work - please complete this week's handwriting sheet.

Maths - Learning Objective – ‘I can calculate the area of compound shapes.’  I will work through examples in the live session.  There is a Powerpoint for you to follow and a worksheet to complete and stick in maths book. If you cannot print, you could copy the shapes from the screen and complete in maths book.

English – Please practise this week’s spelling words AND words from Year 5/6 spelling lists. The spellings are below if you cannot access Spelling Shed.

Please learn and write a sentence for each word.

 siege

 grief

 fiend

 believe

 priest

 niece

 chief

 shriek

 achieve

 mischievous

Then, work on Year 5 and 6 spellings. Please learn and practise on Spelling Shed, you do NOT need to write a sentence for these.

Make sure this morning that you do some quiet reading and record this in your reading journal.

Geography - Hopefully you will have been able to ask two people for their opinions of Addlestone. This be developed further in this session into the creation of a list of positives about the town and what could be improved. I have sent an instruction sheet for this, which you can print out but only if you wish to. If you have any time left at the end of the session, there are some further activities you could try either now or at some point in the week. I am hoping that we will be map reading experts by the end of this term's topic!

If you have some time left today, please start thinking about Island task which you will find in your pack.

I am looking forward to working with you this week! Have a fabulous day.
