Batik Printing
For our first Art lesson this term we learnt about Batik printing. Lila (The Firework Maker's Daughter) comes across a Batik maker in the market. Batik is a technique used for dyeing clothes and creating interesting designs. It is a type of ‘wax-resist dyeing’ and is used in countries all over the world. The word batik comes from the Javanese word 'amba', which means to write, and the Indonesian word 'titik', which means to dot or point.
