Batik Printing

For our first Art lesson this term we learnt about Batik printing. Lila (The Firework Maker's Daughter) comes across a Batik maker in the market. Batik is a technique used for dyeing clothes and creating interesting designs.​ It is a type of ‘wax-resist dyeing’ and is used in countries all over the world.​ The word batik comes from the Javanese word 'amba', which means to  write, and the Indonesian word 'titik', which means to dot or point.​
