5. Friday 5th June

Good morning Year 2, and happy Friday!

For guided reading this week, have a go at the 'At The Beach' comprehension questions below. There are three levels of challenge for you to choose from, make sure that you don't do one which is too easy for you!

Next week, guided reading will be a little bit different! We will all be reading the same book this half term, titled The Mousehole Cat.

There are 30 copies of this book in school, just the right amount for us to have one each, aren't we lucky! You can collect your copy from the school office from 9.30am on Monday 8th June. Just be careful to practice social distancing if there  are other people collecting their copies too. Please let me know if you will not be able to collect a copy and I will see what I can do to get one to you. We will then start using it for guided reading from next Friday onwards, where I will upload a video of me reading a few pages each week and give you an activity to do. How exciting!

For maths today, you can have a go at one of my favourite Active Maths lessons! It is a game called Number Chase.  Below are some question cards, stick the question cards up around your house or garden.

Then, start at any question card you like and the answer to that question will tell you which card to go to next! Eventually you will have completed all of the number cards, in a funny order!  Record your answers on the scorecard below to help you keep track.

(If you don't have a printer or don't want to print the question cards, you can write the numbers 1-20 on post it notes or something similar, stick those up, and then answer the corresponding question on your computer screen).

This afternoon, choose something from the whole school learning page. We usually do Science and PSHE on a Friday, so you could choose an activity from one of those if you want to.

Don't forget, at 2 o'clock I will be reading a story to as many of you who can join me! An email has already been sent to you with how to join in, so I hope to see lots of you there!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Ferryman
