3rd April 2020

Good morning Year 3 and welcome to another Friday (and the last Friday before the Easter holidays)! I am missing you but am looking forward to being able to chat with you via the Year 3 blog. I will be online between 10.30am and 11.30am with a thinking question and look forward to chatting to you then!

SPaG

Today's focus is using the apostrophe for contracted words. I have uploaded the activity sheet (the first sheet is very much just to remind you what I mean by contracted words) and also an information sheet for parents, which will help with supporting your child and which explains where the apostrophe needs to go and which also contains a list of contracted words and the answers to the activity sheets. I have also uploaded the next chapter in our story for you to read for fun.

Maths

A bit of pre-Easter maths fun for you today. I have attached 'The Mystery of the Easter Bunny Costume' below. There are a range of maths problems to solve, using different mathematical skills. I suggest that you choose an adult to buddy-up with and work through the problems together. Maybe you could take it in turns to solve the problems, especially if you find some of them a bit tricky? I hope that you and your home maths buddy enjoy doing this together (and the answers are on the final page of the PDF should you need them)!

Science

We will be starting a new topic in science after Easter, so to consolidate our learning on magnets I would like you to have a go at making a magnetic fishing game. I have uploaded some information to help you. Enjoy!

Wishing you and your families a wonderful Easter holiday. It will be very different from what we are all used to, but treasure the time you spend together and the opportunity for a slower and more mindful pace of life.

With lots of love

Mrs Clay
