Good morning Year 5! I hope the weather forecast is not right and there is no rain today- I much prefer the sunshine. I have sent you all an email on Purple Mash, if you get time today login and send me a reply to let me know what you did at half term.

Let's get busy today! If you have done some great artwork using the style of Matisse, then please send it to me. i have started a gallery on the Art and Design section of the Home learning pages- it would be great to have loads of different ideas.

Start your home learning with some handwriting practice using our spelling words. I have also added the words to Spelling Shed for you to start some online practice of the words.

This week we have been thinking about letter writing and yesterday we enjoyed Chapter 5 of the Firework Maker's Daughter. Today we are going to plan a letter, that we will write on Friday. look at the powerpoint attached at the bottom. You have three tasks to complete, a letter to edit, complete a plan for your informal letter and compose a bank of words that you could use on Friday.

Maths- start your maths session with some practice using addition and subtraction skills. There is a resource attached at the bottom of the page. If you don't finish all the questions today, you could complete some more tomorrow.

Today your main maths task is to find fractions of an amount- click here to watch the video. The questions are at the bottom of the page. If you would like a challenge I have added some problem solving questions for you to complete as well.

In the afternoon have a look at some of the great ideas in our whole school topic- God's Wonderful World. Be creative and send me lots of pictures.

Have a lovely day,

Mrs O'Neil
