1st July Wednesday

Hello Year 3 and welcome to Wednesday. I can't tell you how much I loved seeing your smiling faces on the webinar yesterday. Don't worry if you couldn't make it; I still hope to see you very soon.

Today, have a look at Spelling Shed for your new spellings as well as the attachments below. Last week it was the 'sure' ending, as in treasure, this week it is the 'ture' ending. Good luck! Year 3 is still the business on Spelling Shed. I've seen your names lit up like bright lights on that  leader board!

I'm writing this on Tuesday evening, and the weather hasn't been great today. If you're stuck inside, I've put a few activities on Purplemash, on the 2Do, linked to Romans, volcanoes and friendship etc, so check it out, especially if your parents have got lots to do. It's just for fun, but you'll be learning along the way.

Today's Maths, we're moving on from 2D shapes to 3D shapes today. Always try and leave your Maths session knowing something you didn't before. It's been a busy couple of weeks for new vocabulary, so hopefully you're now confident with right angles, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, vertical lines and horizontal lines. This week it's shapes and then moving onto time tomorrow. Today though, make sure you're confident with 3D shapes.

WALT: Recognise and Describe 3D Shapes

Today's English - it was great to hear how you've been looking up the events at Pompeii. Keep going with your Big Write! Everything you need is on Tuesday's tab, so I won't put them on here today. Have you got a great name for your newspaper? 'Naples News' maybe or The Roman Times? Then you need a catchy headline. Pompeii Buried? Disaster Strikes Pompeii? Vesuvius Erupts? I'm so excited to see what you come up with.

Remember to also check out the whole school learning. Maybe you might want to attempt Van Gogh's Sunflowers this week!

Take care,

Mrs Willgoose
