Digitial Leaders

At Holy Family, each class has a pair of Digital Leaders. They are picked because they are students who are interested, enthusiastic about and good role models for using technology in our classrooms. Their job is to be advocates for good behaviour with technology, support teachers wherever possible and to showcase a range of digital skills.

The key reason we have chosen to have Digital leaders at Holy Family is to support the teaching of and general use of technology in the classroom.

We know that the classroom environment is changing and both learners and teachers need to access a wide range of technologies and master the appropriate digital skills. The presence of Digital leaders in the classroom means the teacher can focus on supporting children and spend less time dealing with technological issues. The hope is that the Digital Leaders can provide a safety net for pupils less digitally literate so that technical issues do not bring lessons to a halt.

Currently our Digital Leaders roles include:

  • Demonstrating Computing skills
  • Managing equipment such as iPads
  • Sharing Online Safety knowledge and advice
  • Supporting other children in lessons
  • Being Digital ambassadors promoting correct behaviour
